Dr. Detlef Rahmann, LL.M.

(im Ruhestand / retired)

Dr. Detlef Rahmann primarily works in the areas of corporate law, with a focus on Mergers & Acquisitions, and in the general legal consultancy of foreign clients' daughter companies in Germany. He has a long-standing experience with company transactions (sales and acquisitions of companies, mergers, transformations, restructuring). Over the past years, Dr. Rahmann has probably managed more than 100 transactions.

Due to his double admission as a lawyer in Germany and as an attorney-at-law in New York, many of Dr. Rahmann's clients are foreign companies, for instance from the USA, the United Kingdom and Japan. His clients operate in classic industrial sectors, such as the chemical and pharmaceutical industries or in the fields of machine and plant engineering, but also in the service sector, in particular in the distribution sector.

Dr. Rahmann has studied law at the University of Cologne (Germany) and Cornell University (New York, USA). For several years he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for International and Foreign Private Law at the University of Cologne. He received his PhD (Dr. iur.) with a comparative legal study regarding arbitration agreements and choice of forum agreements. Moreover, he was engaged as an executive of the alumni organization of Cornell University in Germany and in the Society for Comparative Law at the University of Cologne.
